Summary

On April 12, 1962, near Kunia, Hawaii (about 22-02N 160-40W), an object was reported on ground radar. The radar return was below 25,000 feet and showed a high rate of closure, with an estimated speed of about 700 knots. It appeared on the radar scope at about 318 degrees. The Air Force noted it could possibly have been an aircraft return, but said the information was limited. Without knowing the type of ground radar and other details, no conclusion could be reached.
