MKUltra Subproject 129

· 50 pages

Summary

MKUltra Subproject 129 funded computer analysis of bioelectric response patterns starting in June 1961. The surviving paperwork shows a grant of $2,505.33 made in July 1961 to support work in progress at an institution whose name is redacted. The funds paid for electronic equipment and components including power supplies, oscilloscopes, beam switching tubes, resistors, capacitors, transformers, and other laboratory items from vendors like Yellow Springs Instruments, Burroughs, Graybar Electric, and Electronic Wholesalers. A February 1963 letter describes the subproject's focus on computer techniques for psychophysiology, including development of instruments for data processing, analysis of psychophysiologic responses, and recording of physiologic measurements. The research involved a skin conductance transducer for converting analog bioelectric signals to digital computer format. A November 1961 letter references development of specialized equipment not available commercially, incorporating characteristics for measuring skin conductance.
