Summary
On September 7, 1955, in the late afternoon, three civilian workers saw an object in Washington, D.C. They were employees of the Army Map Service and saw the object from the grounds there. The sighting lasted about one minute.
The object was first spotted when one man tossed up a coin and looked up to catch it. It was described as round and illuminated, about the size of a silver dollar held at arm's length. It seemed to glow and made no sound. The object followed an arc across the sky and disappeared over the Dalecarlia Reservoir. Weather was very good, with high ceiling, clear visibility, no clouds, and almost no wind. There was no air traffic in the area at the time.
The Air Force gave no explanation for the sighting. The record card lists the case as unidentified.
