Summary

On October 2, 1954, at 7:21 a.m., a pale blue object was sighted near Scott Air Force Base, Illinois. One round object, the size of a baseball, was observed at 15 degrees elevation moving west. The object rose to 90 degrees elevation and disappeared from view during a vertical climb lasting five seconds. Witnesses were riding in an automobile when they observed the object. The investigation notes indicate a possible jet aircraft as the cause. The Air Force concluded the sighting was probably aircraft.
