Summary

On May 1, 1952, near Olmstead Air Force Base in Pennsylvania, an ex-pilot reported sighting an unidentified flying object. The object appeared red on approach and white when receding. It had a circular shape and traveled straight and level. The sighting lasted 20 seconds. Two witnesses provided reliable reports. The object flew at roughly 240 degrees compass heading in a high arc and traversed a corner. No jet or rocket stream was visible. The object was observed from the ground with the possibility of cirrus clouds. Two observers and one pilot reported the sighting. The Air Force concluded the object was unidentified.
