Summary

On July 2, 1958, just after midnight, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, a civilian reported a single object in the night sky. The sighting lasted about 6 to 8 seconds. The object looked like a point of light, about the size of the head of a pin held at arm's length, and yellowish in color. The witness was looking at the sky to predict the weather when he saw it. The object moved in a straight path across the sky from west to east at about 45 degrees elevation, then disappeared with flashing lights. The report was filed under Project 10073, the Air Force's official record for unidentified flying object reports. The Air Force concluded the object had typical meteor characteristics.
