Summary
On October 5, 1962, a metal object fell to the ground in Ouagadougou, Upper Volta, Africa. Field workers recovered the object. One metal piece was submitted for analysis. The Air Force identified the material as part of an Atlas Booster from a Shirra flight based on identifying numbers on the metal. A Department of State telegram dated October 12, 1962, reported that two pieces of material were found near latitude 13 degrees 25 minutes north, longitude 2 degrees 38 minutes west.
