Summary

On the night of January 5, 1959, witnesses in Oakhurst, New Jersey saw eleven round white lights, each about the size of a baseball at arm's length. The lights traveled in single file, with about seven minutes between them. One report described a shadowy object that looked like a plane without wings. The lights appeared low on the southwest horizon, climbed very high, then dropped toward the far horizon to the northeast and hovered over the water. They formed various shapes, like the five on a set of dice and a crescent. The whole event lasted about one hour and fifteen minutes. This was a civilian, ground visual report.

The report was filed on Project 10073, the Air Force's official record for unidentified flying object reports. The Air Force concluded the lights were probably aircraft that were in the area at the time.
