North Concord AFS, VermontAugust 1960
Summary
On August 4, 1960, military witnesses at North Concord Air Force Station, Vermont saw an object at about 6:12 a.m. local time, at dawn. The sighting lasted about one minute. The object was circular and about the size of a basketball held at arm's length. It had a blue tip with a white trail about the size of a pencil. The object stayed at the same point in the sky, then suddenly diminished and vanished. There was no sound. The sky was clear. The reporting radar officer thought it might be a man-made object with a contrail. The Air Force concluded the sighting was astronomical, probably a meteor, and linked it to another sighting at the same time from Maine.
