Summary

On June 20, 1960, a witness north of Corvallis, Oregon saw a strange object in the sky. The sighting happened at night and lasted about 10 to 15 seconds. The object looked like a whitish blob, about the size of a quarter, with a slight tail. It looked like a shooting star about to break apart. A piece seemed to drop off the main body, which then vanished. The main object disappeared slightly to the left. The sky was clear that night. The Air Force concluded the sighting was probably astronomical, noting it was probably a meteor.
