Summary

On December 5, 1955, at 2125 hours (9:25 p.m.), a housewife in McIntosh, Minnesota, reported seeing an unusual object in the sky. She described it as shaped like a baseball bat and silvery in color. The object appeared to be divided into three separate parts, yet still seemed to form a single unit.

The witness heard a very loud noise, like a train. The object moved in an erratic pattern, going down and toward the south while spinning. It would spin for a time, then drift, then spin again before eventually fading from sight. The entire observation lasted about one minute.

The sighting took place under calm, clear weather conditions. The Air Force received the report and recorded it as a ground-visual observation. The official evaluation noted on the case card indicates the object was "possibly aircraft," though the file does not contain a detailed investigation report or final conclusion explaining that assessment.

The full case file is reproduced below as held by the National Archives, consisting of 13 pages.
