Summary

On September 8, 1955, at about 0245Z, a civilian saw two objects over Mattapan, Massachusetts. The witness was reported to be young (listed as 16 years old). The report was over a month old when it reached the Air Force. The sighting lasted about two to three minutes.

The observer described two oval objects traveling in a straight line. They first appeared to be jet fighters. The objects were seen only by the reflection of moonlight. They were estimated to be flying at 15,000 to 17,000 feet and moved from south to southeast.

The Air Force concluded the sighting was possibly aircraft. Officers based this on the description and on the fact that the witness first thought the objects were jet aircraft.
