Insufficient Data

Summary

On August 14, 1957, in Los Angeles, California, a civilian witness observed three round yellow objects about a quarter mile in length arranged in a triangle formation. The objects moved from east to west approximately 75 to 79 degrees elevation, traveling straight into fog at 43,000 feet. The sighting lasted five seconds and was observed through binoculars. The witness estimated the objects moved at 1,200 to 1,500 knots and climbed 1,000 percent. A radar check with AMIS produced no results. The Air Force evaluation concluded the sighting was probably caused by aircraft, noting that speed and duration indicate a possible sighting, though insufficient data and conflicting information prevented definitive analysis.
