Insufficient Data

Summary

In November 1955, the Air Force received a letter from a naturalized U.S. citizen writing from Budapest, Hungary. The letter reported what the writer called flying saucers, or rockets, that had been seen over Hungary for several weeks. The witnesses are described only as civilian.

The writer said the fast-moving objects had kept people nervous and kept scientific groups busy. Speeds of about 12,000 kilometers per hour were estimated. The flights were said to come from the direction of Moscow toward Budapest.

The Air Force suggested the reports were probably meteor sightings. However, officers said there was not enough data to evaluate the case.
