Summary

On October 8, 1961, two military witnesses about ten miles west of Grand Forks, North Dakota, reported an object at about 7:00 p.m. local time. The men were driving a car when they saw it. The object had the shape of a disc, about the size of a dime at arm's length. Its color went from white to yellow and cream to red. One object was seen. It first appeared at about 45 degrees elevation, passed in front of the car, was briefly lost behind trees, then reappeared and flew parallel to the car. It stopped, then moved off to the southeast and slowly went below the horizon. The sighting lasted about 15 minutes. A preliminary investigation found no explanation. The Air Force listed the case as insufficient data.
