Summary

On May 2, 1962, at 1:30 p.m., a worker in Fairborn, Ohio reported seeing a brilliant blue-white streak with a red tail. The witness thought it was a jet at first but phoned in an observation. The report mentioned numerous calls about a meteor shower. The Air Force noted the sighting had a jet-like appearance and tail, but also considered it might be a meteor because of its characteristics. The object was evaluated as meteor sighting, though the possibility of it being a jet was not ruled out.
