Project Blue Book Case File
Fairborn, OhioJuly 1957
Summary
On July 25, 1957, in Fairborn, Ohio, a witness observed an unidentified object in the afternoon sky. The Air Force received a detailed report through its standard UFO investigation questionnaire, asking the observer to describe what they saw, how long they watched it, and whether it moved or changed appearance.
The case file consists primarily of the Air Force's technical information form, a multi-page questionnaire designed to capture witness accounts. While the OCR text is difficult to read in places, the document shows that a sighting was reported and investigated as part of Project Blue Book, the Air Force's official UFO study program.
The Air Force's initial evaluation, recorded on the case summary card, indicated "Probably Balloon" as a likely explanation. However, the final determination marked on the card reads "Unidentified," meaning investigators could not reach a firm conclusion about what the witness observed. The full case file, consisting of nine scanned pages from Air Force microfilm T1206, Roll 28, is reproduced below as held by the National Archives.
