Fairborn, OhioJune 1962

Insufficient Data

Summary

On the evening of June 27, 1962, a witness in Fairborn, Ohio watched an unusual object in the sky for about three minutes. The witness described it as fuzzy or blurred, roughly the size of a marble held at arm's length. She initially thought it might be the satellite Echo, which was a well-known object in the sky at that time. The witness observed the object from a prone position (lying down), and it moved generally toward the south.

The Air Force investigators noted that their conclusion was limited by a lack of detailed data. However, they found that an aircraft was in the area at the time of the sighting, and they concluded that light from an aircraft was the probable cause of what the witness saw. The investigators also suggested that the witness's unusual viewing angle, lying flat on the ground, may have contributed to the difficulty in identifying what she was looking at. No physical evidence or additional corroborating observations were available in the case file.
