Summary

On September 9, 1955, near Cincinnati, Ohio, an astronomer on duty observed a round, star-sized object that appeared red and orange in the high northeast sky. The object was observed for two hours and remained stationary. The witness viewed it through a 410 power telescope. The Air Force evaluated the sighting as possibly astronomical, suggesting the object was Capella, a first magnitude star in the northeast at the time of the sighting.
