Summary

On May 14-15, 1962, a witness in Chicago, Illinois, reported seeing an object described as round and about the size of a golf ball held at arm's length. The sighting took place between 3:00 a.m. and 8:00 a.m., though the exact time is unclear from the report. The witness observed the object through ground visual observation, meaning they saw it with their own eyes from the ground.

The object's motion was unusual. According to the report, it moved back and forth and up and down. The witness also said the object appeared to be revolving, or spinning.

The Air Force received limited information about this sighting. A form submitted by the 61st Troop Carrier Squadron at O'Hare International Airport noted that the object was described as glowing, colored green and red with a rainbow appearance, and that the witness was located outside Chicago. However, the official Air Force evaluation stated that "sufficient data was not submitted in report to allow a fair evaluation." As a result, the Air Force marked the case as having unknown status, meaning investigators could not determine what the object was.
