Summary

On June 5, 1955, a civilian at Camp San Luis Obispo, California saw a single object at dusk. The sighting lasted about four to five minutes. The object was seen circling and ascending.

The object was long and silver, about the size of a pea held at arm's length. Its nose appeared larger than its tail.

The Air Force linked this report to another sighting at nearby San Marcos. Officials thought the two separate reports may have shown the same thing. They noted the long shape did not rule out a balloon. With much balloon activity in the area, they judged it highly possible the object was a balloon.
