Summary

On August 3, 1962, at 1:15 p.m., two teenage students in Azuza, California reported seeing a bright oval spot of light moving northeast at approximately 3 degrees per second. They observed it through binoculars for visual sighting during clear weather. The object moved in a Victor Airways route corridor. An Air Force Emergency Plans Officer at Los Angeles noted the most probable cause was aircraft departure from one of several airports in the Los Angeles area. The case was evaluated as unknown.

11. COMMENTS
Obj moving in Victor Airways 1532-49 primary route from L.A. Case evaluated as a/c sighting. Motion suggested sighting of echo except that the vicinity was too fast duration not rapid. Also echo was over L.A. at 2000 moving in the opposite direction (toward the GR).
