Summary

On July 22, 1955, in Aberdeen, Washington, a civilian reported one balloon-shaped object. The witness was watching aircraft at the time. The Air Force recorded the report under Project 10073, its official record for unidentified flying object reports.

The object looked about the size of a medicine ball and was white. It appeared to bob and float toward the south. The sighting lasted about one minute. It was seen in daylight, just after 3:23 p.m. local time. Weather was clear.

The Air Force noted the object matched a balloon and that many balloon launch sites were in the area, especially to the north. Officials concluded the sighting was, in all probability, a balloon.
