Summary

On September 24, 1957, a civilian witnessed a round object the size of a big ball with red color near 7 miles north-northwest of Sanderson, Texas. The sighting lasted approximately five minutes and was observed from a car. An Air Force investigation checked with U.S. Weather Service and found that a weather balloon was released at 5:30 p.m. CST from Big Spring Station. The investigation concluded this was probably what was sighted. The Air Force evaluation determined the sighting was a balloon.
