Summary

On July 1, 1955, about 50 miles southeast of Sacramento, California, a military pilot reported one object. The case was both a ground-radar and an air-visual sighting.

The object looked like an aircraft at a distance and appeared silver. It fell straight down, but there was no sign of an explosion as it struck the ground.

The Air Force card states the sighting could possibly be attributed to falling balloons. The comments note that weather balloons are released from bases in that area.
