Project Blue Book Case File
Yonkers, New YorkSeptember 1962
Summary
On the evening of September 2, 1962, a 13-year-old boy in Yonkers, New York, reported seeing a bright object at dusk. The object moved across the sky without making any sound. According to the cover sheet, the boy observed it for 12 minutes as it moved across the sky, slowed down, and eventually disappeared over the eastern horizon. He estimated the object's speed at approximately 120 miles per hour.
The Air Force's official evaluation concluded that there was no data present to suggest the sighting could have been caused by an aircraft. No photographs were taken, and no physical evidence was recovered. The case file does not provide detailed analysis of the sighting beyond these basic facts, and the OCR quality of the remaining pages makes it difficult to extract additional investigative details.
The full case file is reproduced below as held by the National Archives, spanning 11 pages.
