Summary

On December 5, 1957, at 6:41 a.m. in Yonkers, New York, a civilian witness observed a streak of light about twice the size of a star while driving in a car. The object was whitish-red in color and appeared slower than a typical meteor. An incandescent trail and slight glow were visible in front of the object. The sighting lasted three seconds. The object then burned out and broke up. Weather conditions were clear. The Air Force evaluated this sighting as a possible meteor.
