Summary

On June 25, 1955, near Tussy, Oklahoma, a civilian reported one object while driving. The sighting was seen from the ground and lasted about five seconds. The object was seen through the windshield of the observer's car and then faded.

The object was round and green and about the size of the moon, with a fuzzy outline. It had an orange tail roughly three times its own length. The tail looked cut off in a straight line and did not come to a point. The object moved in level flight toward the east-southeast.

Because the report was delayed, no investigation was authorized. A check of maps and charts found no beacons or flight paths in the area. The Air Force concluded the sighting was astronomical, most likely a meteor.
