Project Blue Book Case File
Tinker AFB, OklahomaOctober 1953
Summary
On October 2, 1953, about 0200 (2:00 a.m.), a military witness saw an object over Tinker Air Force Base, Oklahoma. The witnesses were an Air Force sergeant and an Army private.
The object was a bright bluish-white light, very close in brightness and color to the planet Venus, which it passed within about 10 to 15 degrees of. It looked about twice as large as the brightest star or planet in the sky. It first moved at a steady fast pace, traveling east, covering a stretch of sky in about two seconds. Then it slowed almost to a stop and moved in a fish-tailing motion at a much slower speed. It stopped for about 15 to 30 seconds, then took three to four minutes to reach another point, where it hovered about two minutes.
The sergeant left to call the control tower, which did not answer. When he returned a few minutes later, the object was gone, so neither witness saw it leave. No sound was heard. The sergeant believed it was an intelligently controlled object unlike anything he had seen. The Air Force listed the case as possibly aircraft in the area.
