Summary

On May 27 through 29, 1962, several witnesses near Troy, New Hampshire, reported bright objects in the sky. They were seen shortly after sunset and again about 2:00 a.m.

A young observer wrote that he and family members saw a big glow of light over a nearby hill called the Gap. The objects appeared to move up and down and sideways. After one object disappeared, about six more objects were reported in its place before they too went out of sight. The witnesses saw the lights again on May 29.

This report was filed under Project 10073, the Air Force's official record for unidentified flying object reports. The Air Force said the report was not complete enough for a positive conclusion. It noted the general description fit astronomical bodies such as Venus and Jupiter, whose light is refracted by the atmosphere, and said these planets were probably the cause.
