Summary
On August 5, 1961, southwest of Carlisle, Pennsylvania, a white object was reported at 2158 (9:58 p.m.) at dusk. The object looked like a star except that it moved. It was first seen in the east, drifted with random movement for about 15 minutes, and then faded away to the east. The Air Force said the slow fading and drifting motion matched the upper air currents. The card lists the cause as a balloon.
