Summary

On April 1, 1959, at 7:43 a.m. near Limatuontauri, a witness reported seeing what appeared to be a rocket traveling from east to west at coordinates 40 degrees 35 minutes north, 46 degrees 32 minutes east. The object moved from a direction of 120 degrees toward 300 degrees at a very high altitude and high rate of speed. The witness watched the object appear from the east and disappear to the west. The witness noted the object could have been a falling star but did not believe so, stating it seemed to be propelled. The Air Force evaluation is listed as unknown.
