Summary

On July 15, 1959, in late daylight, a civilian in the southeast part of Salt Lake City, Utah, reported an object in the sky. The sighting was reported through the Air Force's unidentified flying object record system.

The witness described a half-moon shaped object about the size of a quarter held at arm's length. The outline was a mass of flickering lights, like the windows of an airliner. The observer said it moved about four times faster than jets in the area.

The record card noted the information was meager and that the reported speed was probably overestimated. It concluded the sighting was a possible aircraft.
