OGDEN, UTAHNovember 1954

Summary

On the evening of November 14, 1954, a resident of Ogden, Utah reported seeing an unusual object in the sky through a window of their home. The object appeared whitish-yellow in color and displayed a tail or trail. It traveled in a straight course from west to east across the sky.

The observer was unable to determine the object's shape at arm's length, but noted that the brightest area seemed to be around the center. The object maintained a constant angle of elevation as it moved across the sky before disappearing over the mountains in the distance.

The sighting lasted only a few seconds. Weather conditions at the time were clear, with no clouds visible and no storms in the area. The Air Force investigation included review of weather data from Hill Air Force Base near Ogden, the nearest available meteorological report.

The Air Force concluded that the sighting could possibly have been a meteor, based on the description provided by the witness and the brief time element involved. The file notes that the short length of observation did not merit follow-up investigation.
