Summary

On July 5, 1950, at 1:50 p.m., three staff sergeants at Hill Air Force Base radar station in Utah observed an unidentified aerial object flying at approximately 20,000 feet altitude. The object was described as about 50 feet long and circular in shape. It moved on a course of approximately 120 degrees and passed directly over Hill AFB. The object was under observation for about 3 minutes and was estimated to travel between 8 and 700 miles per hour. No sound or exhaust trail was heard or seen. The object was silver in color. Radar was switched on shortly after the sighting, but the object disappeared before radar contact could be established. The Air Force evaluation is listed as unknown.
