Mount Pleasant, UtahJuly 1949
Summary
On July 21, 1949, at about 2013 (8:13 p.m.), an Air Force pilot reported two objects about 10 miles east of Mount Pleasant, Utah. The plane was at 9,000 feet on a flight from Spokane, Washington, to Biggs Air Force Base, Texas. The Air Force conclusion was "insufficient data for evaluation." The report became part of Project 10073, the Air Force's official record for unidentified flying object reports.
The copilot sighted the objects under the nose of the aircraft on a head-on approach, curving slightly to their own left. He called out that he had seen them, but other crew members scanned the sky and saw nothing. The objects were in sight for about 3 seconds before passing below the line of sight beneath the aircraft.
The objects were described as two in number, silver or white in color, with an indistinguishable shape and unknown size. Their speed was reported as excessive compared with the aircraft. They were on a heading of about 337 degrees. No sound and no exhaust trail were noted. The weather was clear.
