Summary

On August 17, 1956, a military observer in the area south-southwest of Spragueville, Maine, reported a radar contact. The sighting was recorded at 0455Z (the card lists it in daylight with no limits on visibility) and the contact was held for about three minutes.

The object was not seen with the eyes. It was picked up only on airborne intercept radar. The radar return was the size of two aircraft or one large aircraft. The range showed the object at about 4,000 yards.

The Air Force referred to the case file and the analysis by its review office. The card marks the cause as equipment malfunction.
