Summary

On about May 22, 1958, around 2:00 p.m., south of Nogales, Arizona, a civilian and his wife reported a single object falling from the sky. They were driving when they saw something come down that looked like a meteor and land about 10 miles from the side of the road. It was a brilliant white ball surrounded by flames. The object traveled from south to north, nearly straight down toward the ground. The witness offered to mark the spot where it came down. The report was filed under Project 10073, the Air Force's official record for unidentified flying object reports. The Air Force concluded there was no reason to think the object was anything other than a meteor, since it was reported as one.
