PINECASTLE AFB, FLORIDAAugust 1952
Summary
On August 7, 1952, at 0956 hours (9:56 a.m.), an unidentified object was observed over Pinecastle Air Force Base near Orlando, Florida. An observer working on the flight line saw a solid silver ball moving slowly in a northwesterly direction with no sound or visible exhaust. The object then accelerated rapidly and climbed at a steep angle before disappearing from sight.
The weather conditions at the time were clear with scattered cumulus clouds. No aircraft from Pinecastle, MacDill Air Force Base, Patrick Air Force Base, or Sanford Naval Air Station were reported in the area. A weather balloon had been released at Sanford Naval Air Station at 0600 (6 a.m.). No interceptions were attempted and no photographs were taken. The pilots from Pinecastle who were flying in the area reported no sightings of unidentified objects.
