Insufficient Data

Summary

On February 7, 1950, two USAF pilots near Otto, New Mexico, reported a sighting during daylight hours. The witnesses did not actually see the object itself but observed a bright white flash in the cockpit. The report coincides with a sighting by two airmen who saw an object from the ground on the same date near Kirtland Air Force Base. The object was described as a fireball with brilliant white color, moving at speeds between 1000 and 1200 miles per hour. The sighting lasted 2 to 4 seconds and was observed aerially. A second sighting on February 23, 1950, near Kirtland AFB involved an airman who observed a reddish-green fireball described as a meteorite at high altitude from the ground, lasting 4 to 6 seconds. The Air Force evaluation for these incidents is not explicitly stated in the documents.
