Summary

On July 16, 1956, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, a civilian ground observer reported three lights. The report came in by letter from the commander of a Ground Observer squadron. The lights were in view for two to three minutes.

Each group of lights appeared to be made up of two lights. They were about the size of a silver dollar held at arm's length. The lights burned steadily and headed west. They were estimated to be at 5,000 feet. The witness heard a sound described as a rhythmic beat, almost like a rumble, and another observer called it a pulse.

The Air Force agreed with the reporting officer. The Project 10073 record card, the official record for unidentified flying object reports, concluded the sighting was caused by an aircraft landing at Will Rogers Field, with its landing and navigational lights on at the time.
