Summary

In 1959, near New Church, Virginia, an observer reported several lights in the sky. The sighting was reported through the Air Force's unidentified flying object record system.

The witness described four circular lights that looked fuzzy or blurred, with no impression of being solid. They formed a crescent pattern with the tips pointing up. The lights varied in speed but never stopped, and they appeared to chase each other, like a game. The weather was reported as hazy with a few stars visible.

The record card noted the haze could account for how the objects appeared and disappeared, and that a probable temperature inversion was present.
