Project Blue Book Case File
Arlington, VADecember 1955
Summary
On December 13, 1955, over Arlington, Virginia, a witness saw a strange light in the night sky. The Greenwich time was 0309Z on December 14. The sky was fairly clear, and the observer was a civilian who worked as an engineer.
The object had no clear shape. At first it looked like a slow moving, tailless meteor, red and about as bright as a bright star. But its course was not straight. The witness, who described himself as familiar with the night sky, said it made a wide turn to the right of about 240 degrees and disappeared toward the north northeast. There was only one light, and there was no sound. The speed seemed to change at times. He watched it for about two minutes and twelve seconds.
The witness planned to plot the exact course on a star chart. An intelligence officer who handled the report listed the cause as unknown.
The case is filed under Project 10073, the Air Force's official record for unidentified flying object reports.
