Insufficient Data

Summary

On April 23, 1954, at about 9:08 p.m. local time near Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, a ground witness reported one object for about 45 seconds. It was greenish and surrounded by a white haze. The object had a whitish-green trail about twice its length and a dome on top. It moved on a straight path and disappeared behind trees. A state weather official had predicted a meteor shower at about the same time. The reporting officer thought a real sighting occurred but said the object's size was probably due to an optical effect or a distant light source. Because no positional data was included, the official conclusion was insufficient data for evaluation.
