Summary

On April 25, 1954, at Shaw Air Force Base in South Carolina, military personnel observed an unidentified flying object. The object was green and round with a green exhaust trail approximately five diameters long. It was about the size of a pop bottle and headed north at an estimated 7000 feet altitude. Personnel at Columbia Radio Range Station C-119 observed the object through binoculars for approximately five seconds. The object traveled at 500 knots with visibility of 12 to 15 miles. The Air Force concluded the sighting was astronomical in nature, specifically a meteor.
