Summary
The OCR text on page 10 is too degraded to read reliably. However, the earlier pages of the file contain enough legible information to construct a summary.
On June 19, 1952, a civilian observer at Virginia Episcopal School in Lynchburg, Virginia reported seeing a round, silver object with no visible exhaust flying very high and fast. The object was traveling eastward from Reusen, Virginia toward Madison Heights, Virginia. The observer was reportedly an ordnance specialist from World War II with anti-aircraft experience.
At the time of the sighting, conditions were favorable for observation. The sky over Lynchburg showed only a few cirrocumulus clouds, with visibility of 30 miles. No extraordinary winds were reported at any altitude. The Air Force attempted to intercept the object by dispatching a fighter aircraft from Langley Air Force Base, but the interception was unsuccessful. A Piedmont Airlines commercial flight (a DC-3) was in the area at the time, flying from Roanoke to Lynchburg, but filed no sighting report. The Air Force found no meteorological activity that might have explained the sighting and noted no reported physical evidence.
