Summary

On April 19, 1956, AF Major and dependents in Minneapolis, Minnesota reported seeing one octangular object from 8:20 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. The object had plane surfaces the size of a quarter as seen through binoculars and about the size of the end of a cigarette to the naked eye. It appeared aluminum colored and emitted high intensity light on the bottom. The object was at approximately 60 degrees at an azimuth of 290 degrees and remained stationary throughout the five hour observation. The Air Force concluded the sighting was definitely caused by the planet Venus. The sky was clear at the time of sighting. Venus was at the same position as the UFO at the time of the sighting and appeared a bluish-white color.
