Summary

On July 23, 1955, near St. Cloud, Minnesota, a civilian prisoner reported observing a round red object about the size of a nickel coin through binoculars. The object traveled west at a slow rate of speed. The sighting lasted seven to eight minutes. The Air Force investigated and determined the object was probably aircraft. The sighting occurred around 8:10 p.m. Central Time. St. Cloud is approximately 50 miles from Minneapolis. A Northwestern flight left Minneapolis for Fargo about 20 minutes before the sighting. The object crossed a major portion of the sky in a straight course during the observation period.

A Northwestern flight left Minneapolis for Fargo, N D at 2050CST on 23 Jul 55, 20 mins before sighting occurred. St Cloud is on flight path from Minneapolis to Fargo and is approx 50 miles from Minneapolis.
