Summary

On January 9, 1956, a witness saw a glowing object over Miami, Florida. The local time was about 1849 (6:49 p.m.). The Greenwich time was 2340Z. The observer was a civilian. The weather was clear with unlimited visibility.

The object was small, round, and white. It looked about the size of a dime held at arm's length. It had a tail five or six times longer than the object itself. It made no sound and was described as moving slower than a meteor. It traveled from northeast to southwest on a straight course at constant speed. The sighting lasted about three seconds.

The case is filed under Project 10073, the Air Force's official record for unidentified flying object reports. The Air Force conclusion was that the object was a meteor.
