Summary

On July 21, 1952, at 0050 (12:50 a.m.) Eastern time, two Air Force pilots reported an unidentified object over Louisville, Kentucky. The pilots, both described as reliable and experienced, were flying an RB-45C type aircraft at about 20,000 feet on a heading of 045 degrees.

The object remained in view about one minute on a heading of about 300 degrees before fading into the distance. The pilots said it resembled a star, was round, but red tinged in color. Its size could not be determined. Its speed was well over 100 miles per hour. There was no trail, exhaust, or sound.

The report notes there was a squall line 60 to 70 miles north of the aircraft and slight haze in the area. There was no physical evidence, no interception, and no other air traffic. The report adds that no known weather or other condition could account for the sighting.
